HISTORY OF ROUTE TRAVELED ON JUNE 22
  • In early 1800's two trading posts existed on Basswood. One was located on the "north side of the narrows between Bayley Bay and Inlet Bay." Now characterized by a stand of almost pure red ash (Ref. 2, p 20). The American Fur Company had a post on Basswood Lake (Ref. 4, p 9). It could be this site.
