THE TRIP

You would have thought we had a looooong day on the water...we were paddling by seven o'clock. The water was once more smooth and beautiful and we covered the 7.4 miles in just over two hours. The reason...the real world was making itself felt with several having to get on the road because of work on Monday...thank goodness for being retired!

This wasn't a Brigade, but the Brigade experience was ever present on the trip. When a Brigade reached a town or home, there was some kind of arrival ceremony...figure eights, string of pearls, etc. Today we decided we should do a pinwheel even though no one would be there to welcome us...but we had to do something. So, we formed up with the bows of all ten canoes as close to touching as possible and then the stern paddlers started doing draws...it was magic, the canoes started moving like a rainbow-colored pinwheel. We then broke the formation and started to paddle the short distance to shore. And to no ones suprise, "the charge was on". Yes, this was a good trip.

A group picture was taken and the gear and canoes were loaded on to vehicles. From there we headed up to Rocky View where we had brunch and enjoyed a cake appropriately decorated. Final hugs and good byes were said and the group started heading to their homes.
