Had to love the sign outside the store! |
The crew arrived this afternoon at the Cardwell Store and RV park where we camped in an area not yet opened to the public for the season...we were fortunate to have the area all to ourselves. Gene, Susan, Don and Cheri came from Great Falls, Montana; Bob, Chuck, John, Kris, Richard, Deb, Keith and Wayne from Spokane, Washington where they stayed last night; and Bill and Sharon drove from their camp near Salmon, Idaho. |
Greetings and sincere hugs were exchanged between friends, friendships that were created on the David Thompson Brigades. Introductions were made for those who had not previously met. Renewing old friendships continued until our stomachs said it was "time to get supper". Food was gathered from the vehicles, stoves set up and we were soon eating our first camp meal.
After dinner, Bob lead a team meeting to finalize plans for the first day of our adventure. Tents were set up and food and paddling gear sorted, organized and stored. It was early to bed as we all knew the demands of voyageur canoing on the initial day. |
