BARREN LANDS CANOE TRIP
THAIDENE NENE NP, NWT

Aug. 29th

There were still come clouds when we got up, but by midday it was BEAUTIFUL! We did the only portage of the trip...0.5 miles...but we walked close to two miles with the multiple passes required. Two-man carries were used on the canoes. We ate lunch at the end of the portage and then paddled across the bay to a prime campsite.

Once in camp we were able to dry out wet gear from yesterday, relax and explore. As you probably noticed, Bill enjoys the "relaxing"; Sharon is out exploring and taking these pictures.

We traveled about 9.5 miles today in seven hours including the portage and lunch break. Arrived at camp at 4:20.
