A 8.3 mile hike...the beauty of the Arctic...Sharon did another 3.4 miles...no muskoxen
Today was about the beauty of the Arctic north. We left camp after breakfast and hiked 8.3 miles in the search of muskoxen. While we did not see any, we did get treated to arctic scenery. We stopped for lunch before heading back to camp and were treated to the taste of cloudberries. Normally, they are gone by this time of the year, but enough were found at the lunch site to give everyone a taste...special. Can't come up with words to describe the day so will let the pictures to the talking. |
There was the hike |
and a stop for lunch and cloudberries |
There was tracks |
and searching |
and stops to rest |
There were birds |
and "vegetation" |
And then there was "just" the beauty of the Arctic |
Upon returning to camp, we had free time to do as we wished. Sharon decided to hike back to retrieve a caribou antler she had seen (3.4 miles round-trip); Bill "rested". And hen there was dinner and a beautiful last evening in the Arctic north.   |
