Canoeing...hiking...windy, sunny, brief showers...covered 14.6 miles paddling and walking in 7.5 hours
Our last day canoeing...it was mostly cloudy with occasional periods of blue sky and sunshine and occasional periods of light showers. It was windy at high points when hiking, but the weather was a nonfactor when canoeing. We headed east following the north shoreline. When we passed through a narrows, we noticed a couple of aviation fuel barrels. We stopped and found that they were full. They apparently were stashed by the government and in the spring run-offs had become buoyant and floated down to this spot. We rolled them up away from shore to reduce the possibility of them getting into the water again. |

There was a high hill across from where we camped. Before getting to camp, we paddled into a small bay and hiked the hill.
There were tracks |
and birds |
but no muskoxen |

It was then on to our final campsite. That evening we were treated to the spectacle of a sun dog (we only saw half the 'dog).
