Our goal today was to camp somewhere that only gave us a short paddle tomorrow. Past experiences with strong west winds on Clearwater West had made a lasting impression of some of the crew.
We awoke to a beautiful still day and were on the water shortly after eight. We retraced our first day's route with some chosing to portage between Hawknest and Clearwater West; others chose to do the stream. The beavers had been active at the narrows since we passed there earlier in the week which made the pull over a little more difficult.
It was then coffee at our first day's lunch stop and on to camp by one thirty. The sandy beach campsite offered the opportunity to wade out into the water with a bar of soap for some much needed bathing. Ron was Chef-of-the-day and treated us to a fine dinner of Pileau and Naan Bread; definitely not your standard camp fare.

Jim's Journal |
The 5th camp was on the South Shore of Clearwater West Lake -- again the area was flat and large with plenty of flat area for our tents and a long sand beach to walk.
