ABRAHAM LAKE

August 18

By land and by sea

Hiking up the canyon

Warm-up day...time to exercise those paddling muscles and get acquainted with our canoe mates. It didn't take long for us to be in sync and gliding across the waters of Abraham Lake. We paddled about four miles west to the Cline River, surfed the rapids at the mouth, had lunch nearby and then paddled back to camp. It was about 16 km (10 mi.) round trip.

There was still lots of time, so Merle suggested a hike up Hoodoo Creek. It was about 3.2 km (2 mi.) round trip with a 152 m (500+ ft.) climb to where we turned around. Fun time by all.
