BLUE LAKE PROVINCIAL PARK
CANOE TRIP

July 14th and 15th

What Happened July 14th: Dick, Steve, Jim and Bill met at Dick's home in St. Paul and then drove to Dick's cabin near Biwabik, MN.

July 15th: We met Terry outside Virginia and drove two cars to the Blue Lake Provincial Park campground. Don drove in from Winnipeg. Gear was sorted, consolidated and packed; plans for the trip were discussed.

Drive to Blue Lake Prov. Park campground . . .Don from the west, the rest from the south
Jim's Journal We arrived at Blue Lake Park around 4:00 p.m. (campsite #69). Typical of the camps at home but with a large clear water beach. Dick made steaks for supper. It started to rain off and on through supper. Had a tarp up and stayed under that until around 10:00 p.m. There were thunderstorms all through the night. We did manage to go all through the gear before supper. We still had 9 packs total, a gear pack, 2 food packs, and 6 personal gear packs, plus 4 tents. Jim and Don were in Don’s Alpine Meadows, Steve and Dick in Dick’s REI, Terry in his MSR-Haba Haba, Bill in his REI half dome. We are using Terry’s MSR Simmerlite and the Dragonfly for stoves.
