Identifying where we camped in our camper in 2013 proved difficult. We drove to Missouri for our annual canoeing trip in our car. A good possibility for camper camping was on a canoing trip on the Fond du Lac River that involved base camping. Also, a few 2 - 3 day trips could have involved camping, but we were unable to find information about any of these trips other than dates on our calendar and pictures of us canoeing and/or geocaching.
Churchill River & Barren Lands
July 30 - September 21
We made this trip in our truck/camper. We started from home on July 30th and arrived at Denare Beach, Saskatchewan on August 3rd. (Leg 1: 1250 miles) Here we met fellow paddles to canoe the Churchill River from August 4th to 16th. We left our camper at Denare Beach.
We left Denare Beach on August 17th for Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, via Slave Lake, Alberta where we left our canoe at a friends house. We arrived at Fort Smith on August 24th. (Leg 2: 1900+ miles) We met the crew for Alex Hall's Barren Lands trip the next day. We float-planed out of Fort Smith on August 26 and returned on September 5th. Our camper was left at the Fort Smith airport.
On September 6th we started our drive home with several stops (geocaches not included in list). Slave Lake to pick up our canoe, Edmonton to visit friends, an unintended stop at the border because we arrived after the station had closed, Tempe to visit the kids and Sedona to pick up Sharon's mom. From there to home our only stops were motels at night and of course, some geocaches. Arrived home on September 21st. (leg 3: 4400 miles) Trip: 7550 miles. A memorable trip to say the least!.
