Description | The shortest hike in this series, the Spirit Lake hike offers the combinations of forests, meadows and high country hiking and views. |
Difficulty | Moderate |
Comments | Early in the summer (before mid-July) Trail 251 to Lake Katherine may be impassable due to snow and is hazardous to hike when snow covered. In that event, Lake Katherine is optional, and you may return to Puerto Nambe and follow the Windsor Trail east to Spirit Lake. Note: Trail 251 is not shown on the USGS Aspen Basin (1953) map. This is a very heavily used trail. Camping and campfires are not permitted in any lake basin. |
