Description | Lake Johnson is a high mountain lake located below the timber line at about 11,100 ft. elevation. It is located in a heavily used area of the Pecos Wilderness. The trail passes through areas of scrub oak aspen and confirs. Open areas allow views of the Pecos Wilderness area. |

Comments | This is a heavily used trail. There are some discrepancies on maps about the location of the trail as you cross Panchuela Creek on Trail 288. The trail follows the NORTH side of the creek. If you miss the Trail 267 turnoff, you will cone to Rio Oscuro in a few minutes. There is no camping in the Lake Johnson basin |
